Oktoberfest is back!
After a two-year hiatus, Oktoberfest, the world's largest beer festival is back!
Every year, millions of lederhosen-clad revelers descend on the world's beer capital (and Germany's 3rd largest city) Munich, to enjoy countless giant steins of beer, feast on delicious wursts and giant pretzels, accompanied by traditional live Volksmusic!
The event dates back to 1810 when Prince Ludwig I of Bavaria (who would later become king) invited the citizens of munich to attend the festivities held in celebration of his marriage to Princess Therese von Sachsen-Hildburghausen.
It was later transformed into a public festival and has been held every year since 1948, until the pandemic forced the cancellations of the 2020 and 2021 editions.
However, finally, it has returned in style, with close to 500 beer breweries, eateries and wine vendors, 200 funfair rides, and all manner of entertainment! What's more, to make up for lost time, organisers have extended the opening hours so attendees will have plenty of opportunity to enjoy the array of delicious beer, food, and entertainment on offer!
