A dose of Disney magic hit Germany this week with the Disney Destiny making its grand debut on water. The highly anticipated cruise ship floated out from the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg—a key milestone ahead of its official launch in November 2025.

The dramatic float-out drew a crowd of shipyard workers, Disney representatives, and excited onlookers. Marvel fans among them snapped photos of the ship’s signature features, like the bold navy hull, bright red funnels, and an iconic Spider-Man sculpture on the stern. Superhero Minnie Mouse even made a surprise appearance, greeting the ship with fireworks and the famous “When You Wish Upon a Star” horn blast.

Now that the ship is touching water, the next step involves sea trials—crucial tests to ensure everything runs smoothly before the grand debut
The Disney Destiny belongs to DCL’s Wish-class fleet and marks the third in its series, following the Disney Wish and Disney Treasure. The vessel weighs in at a massive 140,000 GT, houses about 1,254 cabins, and can carry about 4,000 guests. The ship is also environmentally savvy, powered by cleaner-burning LNG.
Inside, you can expect immersive “Heroes and Villains” storytelling in true Disney style—with Marvel and Pixar characters woven into the décor. The lobby will feature a Wakanda-inspired Grand Hall with a Black Panther statue, the Sanctum Lounge channels Doctor Strange’s world, and there’s even a villain-themed lounge inspired by Cruella De Vil.
