Ride in Royal Style: Spain’s New Luxury Train Packs in UNESCO Sites, Sherry and Roman Ruins!
Forget sprinting through airports or cramming into budget flights with no legroom – Spain wants you to travel in style (and at a far more civilised pace). Next spring, the country’s most luxurious train, the Al Andalus, will launch a dazzling new seven-day journey from Seville to Madrid, and it’s basically a five-star hotel on wheels.
And this isn’t just any old locomotive. The Al Andalus is made up of carriages once used by the British Royal Family, dripping in Belle Époque elegance. Think wood-panelled salons, velvet armchairs, and suites with round-the-clock room service. Oh, and two restaurants serving gourmet Spanish cuisine. Casual.

Where Will it Take you?
Over the course of a week, you’ll glide through southern Spain, stopping at some of the country’s most jaw-dropping destinations. Sip sherry in Jerez de la Frontera (and watch an equestrian ballet while you’re at it), wander among the Roman ruins of Mérida, and lose yourself in Toledo, the “city of three cultures.”

You’ll also explore the seaside buzz of Cádiz, and of course, stand in awe beneath the arches of Córdoba’s Great Mosque. Basically, it’s Spain at its most show-stopping, all without ever having to drag your suitcase up cobbled streets.

When can you ride?
There are just nine departures in 2026 (starting April 5), and fares begin at €6,600 per person for a Grand Class room. Pricey? Yes. Worth it? If you’ve got the budget, absolutely – because this isn’t just a train ride, it’s a once-in-a-lifetime glide through Spain’s cultural and culinary treasures.
Lottery win pending, it’s the kind of trip you’ll be daydreaming about long after the tracks run out.
