The Sagrada Familia is Barcelona’s most popular tourist attraction. It was designed by architect Antoni Gaudi whose tomb is housed inside. Despite being started in 1882, the basilica is still unfinished. It hopes to be completed by 2026 to mark the hundredth anniversary of Gaudi’s death.
When it is finally complete, the Sagrada Familia will stand at 170 metres tall, making it the highest religious building of Europe. The final height will be one metre less than Barcelona’s mountain, as Gaudi believed nothing made by man should be higher than God’s work.
All approximately 20 minutes walk away (in various directions) are the Casa Mila, Casa Batlló and Park Güell.
The basilica looks stunning at any time of day, even after dark. However, the structure was designed with light in mind. To make the most of the stained-glass windows you want to visit mid-morning or mid-afternoon when the sun hits them perfectly.
You can buy a ticket online for about 17€. You can buy them when you get there but you’ll be subjected to long queues and increased prices.
Rob was a fantastic guide. The trip was very enjoyable and Robs knowledge and expertise were great. Would defo recommend
Excellent service from start to finish. I booked the National 3 Peasks challenge in 24 hours. i had regular communication from Rob and the team prioe to the event checking in on my progress, which really spurred me on as well as a helpful fitness plan i has to folow. For the challenge itself Rob and Tim really helped put the group at ease, and was very encouraging.
