The World's Wettest Festival

You may have been involved in water-fights, but this is closer to a water war. Buckets, bowls, cups, water pistols, fire hoses and even elephant trunks are used to douse the streets in a celebration that encapsulates Thailand's warm relaxed attitude to festivities.

Running from the 13th-15th of April, Songkran captures the imagination of every man, woman and child and brings together thousands of strangers to become brothers in H20 arms. It's hard to imagine just how much joy can be spread through drenching strangers, but when 69 million people agree to take up the challenge it takes on a spirit of it's own.
