Holidaymakers BUZZING As Refund Credit Notes Offer Coverage Even If Companies Goes Bust

According to a survey, thousands of holidaymakers were stalling on their travel plans due to concerns about not customers receiving refunds. Airline companies as respected as British Airways have come under scrutiny with thousands of customers complaining they had not received the refunds they were entitled to.

Now holidaymakers who receive refund credits note for cancelled holidays will get their money, even if the travel company they book with goes bust!

The government has confirmed it will protect customers' refund credit notes that have been issued between 10 March and 30 September 2020 for bookings that are ATOL protected.

Thomas Cook went bankrupt in September of 2019, and customers have since become more aware of the potential pitfalls of booking holidays without first checking their refund policies and terms and conditions.

Family holidays

Whilst some travellers were sceptical of refunding credit notes in case a company goes under (like Thomas Cook), Transport Secretary Grant Shapps has tried to put their worries to bed.

He said: "We want to send a clear message to passengers that they can book their summer holidays with confidence, which is why we're stepping in to protect refund credit notes issued as a result of COVID-19 cancellations.

This is not only good news for anyone looking to get away for a break in the sun

... but also for the aviation and travel sector which has been hit hard by the pandemic."

The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) said the Department for Transport had provided "much-needed clarity" by confirming that such cases will be covered by the ATOL scheme."
