Faq?

After the First World War, there was a worry about a lack of religious faith in Brazil. The hope was that by putting a big statue of Christ overlooking the city, it’s people would be constantly reminded of God’s presence and find reassurance in its appearance.

The monument was actually put together on top of the mountain. All the pieces were carted up there on a small, cog-wheel train and the workers used long poles to act as scaffolding during its construction. It was no small feat and a true testament to the people of Rio’s faith.

Prices vary between R$56 – R$68 depending on the time of year.
