Come for the dramatic history, the nightlife, or the beautiful architecture, stay for the healing thermal waters and the world-class food.
Budapest, known as the “Queen of the Danube”, is quite literally a city of two sides. With the muscular mountain of Buda and its imposing castle on one side of the lazily snaking river and the level flamboyance of Pest on the other, the real gift is that you don’t have to choose.
All in the same afternoon you can wander through the tightly wound war-scarred streets, sip a cold beer in one of the infamous ruin bars, then slip beneath the healing waters of a thermal spar.
The official currency in Hungary is the Forint. However, many places will also accept Euros. If you’re staying for more than a few days, we recommend exchanging your Euros at a Hungarian bank as you’ll get a better exchange rate this way. ATM are also available throughout the city.
Budapest can get very cold in the winter months and although that keeps some tourists away most attractions remain open. Head to the thermal baths if you’re getting too cold to warm up in the hot water!
Europeans and those from the USA do not need a visa to enter Hungary
English is widely spoken in the tourist areas. Outside of these areas, a large percentage of the younger generation learn English at school, so you should get by. Many people in Hungary also speak German.
Rob was a fantastic guide. The trip was very enjoyable and Robs knowledge and expertise were great. Would defo recommend
Excellent service from start to finish. I booked the National 3 Peasks challenge in 24 hours. i had regular communication from Rob and the team prioe to the event checking in on my progress, which really spurred me on as well as a helpful fitness plan i has to folow. For the challenge itself Rob and Tim really helped put the group at ease, and was very encouraging. Such a credit to business. i would not hesitate at all in recommending bookitlist to friends and family and will define use again in the future. Thank you for pushing me to finish the challenge!
