We’ll meet in Penzance for a short briefing and bike checks, then ease into the adventure with a 10-mile warm-up ride to Land’s End. Enjoy classic Cornish scenery en route before checking into the hotel to rest up for an early start the next morning.
Starting at the southernmost tip of mainland Britain (Land’s End), we’ll ride north to the pretty seaside town of Bude. Expect stunning coastal and countryside views along the way, arriving in late afternoon.
From Bude, we’ll head east along National Cycle Network Route 3, riding through Devon’s countryside before reaching our hotel in the Mendip Hills a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Heading north, we’ll pass Bristol and cross the Severn Bridge into Wales. We’ll follow the River Wye through the Wye Valley an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty enjoying lush, picturesque scenery as we continue through the historic city of Hereford to our destination: Ludlow, in Shropshire.
We’ll depart Ludlow and ride north on National Cycle Network Route 45, passing through the Shropshire Hills (AONB) and several historic market towns, before reaching our destination on the outskirts of Greater Manchester.
Departing Leigh, we’ll head west along the A65, crossing Lancashire countryside into Yorkshire. Riding north, we’ll take in Yorkshire Dales views and the Forest of Bowland (AONB) before entering the Lake District for the challenging climb over Kirkstone Pass. After breathtaking views, we’ll descend to Glenridding on the shores of Ullswater to rest for the night.
We’ll depart Glenridding and enjoy morning views as we follow the shore of Ullswater for 6 miles. Heading north, we’ll pass Carlisle and cross into Scotland at Gretna, continuing through the wild landscapes of Dumfries and Galloway into South Lanarkshire and our overnight stop in Douglas.
From Douglas, we’ll head north on National Cycle Network Route 7, skirting Glasgow and Stirling before entering Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park. Where the Highlands meet the Lowlands, we’ll pass sparkling lochs (including Loch Lomond, Scotland’s largest), soaring peaks, rolling hills, and scenic forests with spectacular views en route to our overnight stop in Ardchyle.
Day 8 is packed with breathtaking views. Heading west from Ardchyle through dramatic Western Highlands scenery, we’ll cross the narrows between Loch Leven and Loch Linnhe via Ballachulish Bridge. Then it’s north along Loch Linnhe with stunning views of Ben Nevis, through Fort William, past two more lochs, and on to Fort Augustus a charming Highland village on the edge of Loch Ness.
From Fort Augustus, we’ll ride north, following Loch Ness and the River Ness to Inverness. After passing through the city centre, we’ll cross Kessock Bridge for spectacular views over the Beauly Firth and Moray Firth, then continue north to Loch Shin. We’ll overnight in Lairg, rested and ready for the final day of riding.
It’s the final day. After breakfast, we’ll head north through the rugged Northern Highlands to Scotland’s north coast. The last stretch is relatively flat, with near-unbroken views of the North Sea, as we ride east to John O’Groats, arriving in the late afternoon. Celebrate the euphoria of the finish with a well-deserved victory meal and drink.
After an overnight stay in John O’ Groats, we’ll say our goodbyes and depart for our drop-off point in Inverness.

This is a difficult challenge designed for recreational cyclists and above. To help you prepare, we provide every rider with an 8-week training plan to build a solid base level of fitness.
We offer pick-up from Nottingham, Birmingham, Manchester, and Glasgow. Other pick-up points are available on request.
We try our very best to ensure every participant completes the challenge. However if for any reason you are unable to finish, we have a safety vehicle on hand to pick you up.
Roughly 1,000 miles end-to-end (exact mileage depends on the final route).
